Violalia Duo is Laura Thompson (violin/viola) and Hannah Selin (viola/composition). We bring joy, color, and a sense of humor to contemporary music for violin and viola(s). Our fall 2022 concerts include the world premiere of Double Song II by Matthew Greenbaum, Rumi Settings by Augusta Read Thomas, and Knickknacks by George Tsontakis. We're also celebrating the release of Meditation on 2/5 - a work for scordatura violin, composed by Hannah and recorded by Laura - on November 10.

June Bender
June Bender is a violinist, teacher, and composer from Philadelphia. In addition to freelancing as a classical violinist, June stays active playing many styles of music including Irish fiddle, tango, swing jazz, and freely improvised music. She founded, leads, and writes original music for the group Unseen Rain, which released their debut album, Out Beyond, in Fall 2019. June has performed with many Philadelphia-based ensembles over the years including Prometheus Chamber Orchestra, Oscuro Quintet, Arcana New Music Ensemble, and the Belleville Quartet. She also maintains an active studio of 25 violin students.
