Integrating country with grunge in what Blau’s referring to as gruntry, Karl Blau & Country Gravel is a 3-piece Philly-based band consisting of Blau on guitar, Corinne Dodenhoff, Queasy singer and instrumentalist on bass, Joseph Krause of J. Salvage drumming.  Producer, lead singer and lyricist Blau moved to Germantown, Philadelphia in 2018 from the NW of Washington State where he was involved in the music of NW luminaries Laura Veirs, Mount Eerie/The Microphones, EARTH, Your Heart Breaks, LAKE to name a few.  In the past 2 years, Krause and Dodenhoff joined Blau to create a unique chemistry that fits the characteristic experimental element that Blau so often enjoys - this time with allusions to rock and departures into country. In 2023 the gang works to record and perform the new songs they are writing together in this gruntry style as well as lean into Blau’s latest Love & Harm album.
