joy burklund (she/they) is a songstress, singer, and artist living in Lenapehoking, also known as Philadelphia. Her musical roots are grounded in choral singing, musical theater, indie-punk, diva pop, and folk lineages. After 15 years as a theater artist and performer, joy returned to songwriting and singing in 2022 for the first time since performing with her garage punk band in high school. Her songs are emotionally-driven, full-heartedly romantic, transgender, synesthetic spinnings written for the beautifully-gendered freaks in this world, and those who love them.
